Creating a
Cover that catches your fans eye can sell Cd's. Even without
hearing your music the cover you choose speaks volumes to your
potential customers. At Eclipse, we have designers that are
focused on creating covers that not only represent you and your music
but that will SELL! Below we will share some of the things we do
to ensure a great package design so that if you are going to design a
cover you too can achieve the greatest results.
The Importance of
CD Design!
Cover
The
cover
could be the most important thing simply because it is the first thing
you see on the shelves and in an online store. First impressions are
everything. Let us show you how to make your cover stand out from
the crowd. We try to
make sure the title is distinguishable from the artist name. We
also try to convey what genre of music you will hear if you buy this
Cd, based on the cover design.
The
inside, or back of the cover
We try to
always include credits, thank yous, lyrics, pictures or something
about the project for the inside. This is a great place to really
personalize your Cd.
Back
Cover
The back
cover is the best place for the bar code, label, catalog number, track
listing with song titles and duration of song. Another thing that
we at Eclipse think is so important is to include the contact
information including your Myspace, emails, websites or any other
information to be able to contact you, purchase Cd's, or book you for a
gig.
Image
for print direct to disc
One thing we
notice is that most of the time people buy a Cd and immediately take it
out of the package and either listen to it or put it in their CD
Catalog binder. Because of the separation of the Cd from the
packaging we always try to use the Cd as a one page comprehensive
design that lets all of your fans have all of the information at their
fingertips even if the disc gets separated from the packaging.
That means that we try to put the Artist name, Title of Album, Track
listings with duration of song and most importantly, your Contact info.
This way, if the package gets thrown in a drawer, your fans will still
know where to get more.
